Spring Bargain Shopping Network

By Moriah on March 7th, 2008

I found this skirt on the clearance rack at Target for exactly $4.62.

The only problem? It’s supposed to be knee-length. On me, however, it hit about 2 inches below my knee. Which is just not flattering, no matter who you are.

But for $4.62, it was worth the home-alteration risk. I figured I could always go back and buy another one if I ruined it. I debated with myself about taking the inches from the top or from the bottom, but finally decided on taking it from the top. The box pleat with those ribbon trims would have been infinitely harder to move than taking off the top band and cutting the zipper. But it all worked out and see? I have a wearable skirt for spring that cost me $4.62.

This one was $4.98. And it was also an unflattering two inches too long.

For this one I only had to cut the bottom off and hem it; much more straightforward.

Definitely worth the $4.98, in my book.

You did a great job altering those CUTE skirts! And okay, if you wear a size 4 (which is the about the size the skirts look to be) after having 3 kids, then I seriously hate you. LOL. Except that I can’t really hate anyone, especially people I don’t know!

Hey…awhile ago you posted about some new shampoo you bought and loved. I’m a shampoo snob, but I’m trying to trim expenses and thought I’d ditch my salon shampoo this month and try some from *gasp* Walmart. What kind did you buy, and more importantly, do you still like it??? I’d love your honest feedback!
