Before and After: Girls’ Room
Welcome to my edition of
I’m using my girls’ room for today’s carnival simply because it is the only room that has actual ‘before’ shots.
(Which is convenient for a ‘Before and After’ display.)
A little background info in case this is your first visit here; we just moved back into our house after being away for a year and a month. Adelaide was a newborn when we left and still sleeping in the cradle (which was placed strategically in the guest room next to ours).
My son and daughter were 3 1/2 and 2 at the time, and shared the third room. Drew now has his own room and the girls are together.
You ready? Good!
BEFORE:
Madeline’s bed sort of reminds me of Baby Bear’s bed from Goldilocks:
This next shot is to give you a closeup of the trim. Our renters ripped out the carpeting in two of the bedrooms (don’t ask) and so I had to nail down quarter round to fill in the space between the baseboards and the floor. (Also why we even had to purchase that rug pictured above.):
(Sidenote: Target and Homegoods should pay me for this post. Nearly everything decorative and all of the bedding were purchased at one of those two stores.)
A few closeup shots of some of the fun little things:
And I just love these whimsical fairies:
The windows at the last house were shorter, so I added the pink fabric to make them longer:
And, just for fun, presenting the Inmates:
(Madeline above, Adelaide below.)
Thanks for stopping by! For more Before and After fun, head on over to Boomama’s!

great job! i love the pink and green…same as my girl’s room…except her walls are pink.
smart on adding the pink trim to the curtains…it looks great!
also, be thankful the renters ripped up the carpet…it’s a tough job and the wood is beautiful!
of course putting down the trim probably wasn’t fun either!
Looks wonderful! Love the green paint, and great job modifying the window treatments! Love the hardwoods even if they’re not in great shape. And LOVE LOVE LOVE Target and Homegoods! The fairies are awesome…my daughter is jealous :)

I love the color and the swirly thing! It’s such a girly room, I bet she just loves spending time in there. Nice job!
Amazing transformation, and it is just too cute!! ;-) The addition to the curtains was perfect. :-)
Darling! Makes me think having a girl might be as much fun as a boy!

Beautiful! My girls have one of those fairy pictures too, but it is still not hanging on the wall. I want to paint and stuff before I hang it. Your girls have a great room. Lucky them!
Their room looks beautiful! Thanks for posting the before pictures as well. I need to get going with my nursery and your post is giving me the motivation I need to just get moving with it.
That is just about the most precious little girl’s room I’ve ever seen! Well done!
I love the fairy prints!
you did a good job!! were you standing on a ladder to take some of the pictures? it looks like they are taking from high above. I know you are not that tall. Good job though!
it looks so cute! i love the swirl! now, if you could help me w/a neutral theme to match pale yellow walls, that’d be great!

It looks like a scence from Pottery Barn. Really nice!
That is SO VERY VERY CUTE!
Adorable…ya’ll did a great job, Moriah! I am partial to these two colors because these were the colors of my room growing up. Love the swirly decal thing.
You did an amazing job! I love how it looks like the flowers are swirling off the curtains on to the walls. Great work!

What a wonderful job!
I love the hem detail on the curtain.
I just painted my girls’ bedroom the same green (or close). So glad I saw your pictures. They really give me inspiration. I also saw the same stuff at Target! Great job.
You have such a talent for decorating at such a good budget. I felt like I was looking through Home Decorating magazine. I remember when you lived on base you had the green and Ivory color room. Then, you moved to Kaysville and you painted that one wall Green. I have always loved your style of decorating. AND, you are so talented on the sewing machine. Sewing a few extra inches on the drapes, shortening skirts, taking out the hem line to make them longer. You’re good girl!
That is so adorable! I love it.
What a cute room, I love the apple green color! And that toddler bed is so small, it looks just like the Goldilocks bed!
My 4 year old has the same two prints of the fairies in her room.
Absolutely, fabulously adorable! My favorite part is the lovely green you used on the walls, especially with the pink accents.
