MUST PASS ALONG!

By Moriah on October 26th, 2008

I got this idea/recipe from Sarah’s blog (In the Midst of It) and in case you don’t read her, I’m going to pass it along. Because this is a recipe you want, trust me.

My sisters came over last night to do their laundry and so we tried these out and watched a movie. UnBELIEVEably quick and easy. And GOOOOOOD.

Homemade Donuts: Pop open a can of refrigerated biscuits. Poke a hole in the center of each biscuit (I used my Pampered Chef apple corer):

And then fry the donuts (and holes) in a few inches of oil (I use canola):

Flip over once (this takes less than a minute, make sure you don’t go far!):

Drain on paper towels:

Roll in cinnamon & sugar:

Perfect for a Saturday morning or a Sunday evening at home. Best served still warm.

(You could also glaze them with a powdered-sugar glaze or frost them with chocolate icing.)

I’ve been wanting to try this recipe for a while now. You’ve inspired me! Also, I couldn’t live without my apple corer. Such a simple thing, but a very useful one.

I am clicking away from your page as fast as I can so that I can flee this temptation, all the while chanting, “Hot for the Holidays…hot for the holidays…”

But as soon as I reach my goal weight, I am so trying these.

The oil freaks me out, but they actually look really good. I’ll probably have to try this soon. Especially since you recommended the so highly. ;)

Thank YOU, Moriah! I’ve gotta try these. I have a fabulous donut recipe from Martha Stewart, but as you would expect, it takes 27 ingredients and a full afternoon to do them. A Sunday evening at home sounds nice as well :)

To this pregnant girl they look perfect for anytime! How much oil did you use?

A couple of inches’ deep… enough so they’d float well. I didn’t measure.

They look great! I can only imagine the excitement in our house – when I give these a try. We rarely have donuts. And when we do they’re most definitely the store-bought kind.

I’ll go ahead and shock them with some HOMEMADE DONUTS!!!

    Thanks for sharing!

Oh WOW no way! When I saw the canned biscuits, I knew it would be good. When I saw them frying into delicious donuts, I was satisfed. But when I saw them getting covered in cinnamon sugar, I think I let out a little gasp. Must try this!

We do this from time to time, and it is totally delicish!! I don’t make a glaze out of the powdered sugar though, I just sprinkle it on top, beignet style, and grab a cup of coffee. It’s my own Cafe Dumone!

We had these this morning, and they totally made our MONDAY! However, I don’t normally cook with such a large amount of oil ;-) and so my pan is still sitting on my clean kitchen counter waiting for me to come up with a disposal solution…what did you do with yours?

I learned how to make donuts while at back some years ago. :) Thank you for bringing it back alive !!! I have even tried melting chocolate icing and drizzling it on top of the donuts.. :)
