Oddly-behaving weather and sweet treats
When we woke up to snow flurries yesterday I was a little nervous they’d cancel school. The last “snow” day didn’t even HAVE any snow; it was cold but a bright blue, clear sky. You really never know with Southerners. Snow? Cold? Wimps.
But Drew got to go to school and was able to have his Easter party, which meant he came home with a basket full of loot. He sweetly shared everything with Madeline and I didn’t even have to prod him.
And today we’re back to Spring. Wore short sleeves to the park, even. I packed the kids a lunch and we ended up staying a long time because my friend Michelle happened to be there with her gang and I had someone to hang out with. (If I go alone, funny thing, we don’t stay as long.)
I talked my sisters into coming over tonight and we ate the rest of last night’s chili and made rice krispie treats. I’m almost 29 and they’re still one of my favorite things.
And now I’ve got to get a Chic Critique post ready so Jo-Lynne doesn’t fire me.
I’m curious, what was your favorite childhood treat??

Hmmm. I loved hot from the oven chocolate chip cookies (sweet memory of the smell as I came in from school) as a kid (and now, who am I kidding?). I also have a soft spot for brownies and rice krispie treats…wow. I’m a sweet food junkie!
My mom would always give me chocolate chips(sometimes mini marshmallows) in a little measuring cup. Don’t know what was more fun to me then, the chocolate, or getting to have a snack in such an unconventional bowl. My kids get way more sugar than I EVER did, so the occasional chocolate isn’t such a huge deal to them, but they like this too.
Without ruminating too long, I’d say Cracker Jacks. There were other wonderful, homemade desserts, but for plain ole junk snacks, yeah, Cracker Jacks.
Snowed here yesterday, too…hoping for Spring to come our way soon. I will always be a sucker for chocolate chip cookies.
I love most treats, but I can remember saving my pennies to buy something called Mamba. It is similar to Starburst but had flavors I really liked. I still see it every once in awhile, but not often.
tastykake’s peanut butter tandy cakes. hands down.
My mom would give us one big marshmallow and our child size handful of chocolate chips, which was about 6 or 7 I think. Then we would bite of little edges of the mallow and stick to chips to it, making funny faces or just weird looking things, and then gobble it up! A chocolaty mallowy yum. I still am tempted to bite parts off of my marshmallow and put chocolate on it!
Graham crackers with peanutbutter. mmmmmmm
Grapes off of my grandmother’s vines! And Baskin Robbins cones!
I still love Rice Krispie treats. So easy, cheap and YUMMY!
Your weather sounds like ours! My kids wore capris and shorts one day this week and winter coats the next. Oh, and we woke up to snow again today. At least you aren’t going to have a white Easter!
