The Best Laid Plans

By Moriah on April 10th, 2009

We were supposed to meet a friend at the children’s museum yesterday but her kids were too sick to make it. I had already PROMISED Madeline we’d go, so we went anyway but spent a quarter of the time driving around looking for a parking spot.

In the end we weren’t there for very long (had to get Drew from school), but I’ve found that as long as you DO something you promise a little child, the duration doesn’t matter to them very much.

I got home to find my house key was missing from my key ring. No idea what that’s all about. I had to wrangle everyone back into the car and drive over to Andy’s work and get his key. Then naptime could officially begin.

Which, Madeline woke up too early so in order to get her to sleep longer, I had to lay down with her and ended up falling asleep myself. Later I told her I was glad I had taken a nap because mommies looooooooove sleep. She said, “I love wake.”

Yeah, I noticed.

Today I was supposed to be able to go run my million errands since Andy had offered to keep the kids — but then he ended up having to be at work extra early, so here I sit, disappointed my errands aren’t getting done and wishing my house would clean itself. We have a birthday party to go to tonight so somehow today I’ve got to pick up a gift.

And totally off the subject but way more pertinent to the day, as Missy said so perfectly, have a blessed Good Friday, as our hearts long for Sunday!

Naps always go that way at our house too and the one time in the last year that I’ve bought a birthday present before the day of the party, I ended up having to cancel because I was getting ready to go into labor with dd#2. :) Hope you have a less crazy day tomorrow! I’ve got my sidebar link for your blog fixed now, sorry it took so long!

Hey…I’m back online again…and I’m sorry your plans went awry.

I was in a funk yesterday too because my plans got all messed up too.

John was off, the kids were all in school and we planned to hang together for the day. Just as we were heading to the Springs, the school called and said Abbey was sick. We picked her up and tried to carry out some modified plans but she really didn’t feel like doing much else besides whining. So…we spend the day at home with her and I couldn’t snap out of my bad mood.

Sorry to dump all that on you. I hope the birthday party was fun. And wow, a NAP! Jealous.
