Hot.
By Moriah on June 23rd, 2009
I knew I was in for it yesterday when the thermostat was set for 74 and it was reading 81 – at 10:30 in the morning. I called the a/c service people and they came a little later in the afternoon. Basically the unit is all junked up and in need of some serious industrial cleaning. For $150.
It’s always something.
We’re going to try to clean it ourselves, with Andy’s dad coaching us over the phone on what to do.
And by ‘we’ I totally mean Andy.
I let the kids play in the sprinkler outside and I tried to wear as little clothing as possible and still pass for appropriate. And then I took a cold shower and we all took long heat-induced-coma naps. (’Long’ as in Drew rolled out of bed at 6:20.)
I’m hoping we (Andy) can get it fixed soon. Like, today.
But in the meantime, I’ll be trying not to sweat. Which means either lazing around doing nothing or heading out to someplace with air conditioning.
We do have a playdate scheduled later this morning so here’s hoping the children’s museum is cooler than my house.

Oh dear – I hate being hot and it was worse when I was pregnant. Good luck with fixing the unit.
Hope he gets it a ship shape for ya and that you find parking at the museum!!
that stinks. daniel has been on this “save money by saving energy” kick and really wants our thermostat to hang out around 76. i’m protesting.
Hey, I would have been HAPPY with 76 yesterday. Today it’s working much better. YAY.
We don’t HAVE air conditioning up here in the pacific northwest.
It’s considered a tad frivolous.
However, after it hit 93* INSIDE our house during our heat wave three weeks ago, I’m thinking , “And the problem with being frivolous is???????”
We had a fun play-date with you, thanks :o)
And yes, Dolly, parking was an issue!
Our kids took naps until about 6:30pm yesterday too! Around their bedtime I put in a DVD hoping that if they went to bed a good 2 hours past their normal time, they’d sleep in this morning. No such luck. Oh well, at least the DVD kept them sort of quiet at that late hour.
At least it cools off here at night. And there’s no humidity. Just remember if you’re sweltering at your mom’s house that I have AC!!! ;)
I have to agree with you, always something. Hope your a/c is working again soon so you can be comfortable. In the meantime, enjoy your time away where the a/c is operable.
I asked my husband (an HVAC guy) about your problem. He mentioned to double check your air filter (in your furnace) – that’s the leading cause of problems of air flow, the second is having a dirty outside unit. Sounds like the repair man at least hosed it off enough to get your air flowing again though! Thank goodness for AC while being pregnant!
i feel for you! We have yet to turn our’s on [yes, also save $$ by saving energy plan :(] so I’m a lot less productive during the summer!
