“Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.”

By Moriah on July 8th, 2009

Except that we are, in fact, still in Kansas. We’ve driven over 800 miles and the kids have been so, so good. It helps to have DVD players in the car, is all I’m sayin’. And coloring books. And matchbox cars.

We’ve had gorgeous weather and almost no traffic. The sunset was beautiful and you could see it stretching for miles across the flat plain. We’re about 15 minutes from where we’re staying tonight and we’ll all be thankful to be out of the car for a while.

Memorable quote from today: “No, Mommy doesn’t have to call Grandmommy ‘Grandmommy’ because she’s a big girl so she can just call her ‘Mom’” – Drew.

Yep, a DVD player in the car is a LIFESAVER.

Hope you have an amazing trip!

Glad you’re closer! Hope you get a great night’s rest and have an easy drive tomorrow too. I’m sure you have tons of dvds, but my friend does the Redbox thing…they rent them at McDonalds and just switch them out along the way. Isn’t that a cool idea?

OK – let me get this right – you can drive 800 miles and still be in the same state?

Living on a small island – we just can’t drive too far without being in the sea!

800 miles would probably take me to Paris, France (ignoring the wet bits on the way!)

That’s an adorable quote! It’s hysterical to watch kids try to figure out all the family relationships and how the names apply.

Sounds like the Lord is smoothing the pavement in front of you. Blessings -

Oh, how well do I remember driving across KS on our way to CO for family vacation….it seemed to stretch on F-O-R-E-V-E-R :o)

Kansas is the most boring state to drive in. Besides Oklahoma. I feel your pain!
