Things I’ve Been Meaning To Blog About
The kids are napping, so I’m just going to pretend my living room is spotless and there aren’t couch cushions and toys strewn all over the place, and see if I can will my brain into forming a coherent post.
Let’s try a list.
1. I did get Madeline’s 4-year-old pictures done. My mom always asks what color the kids are wearing in them, meaning she’s not-so-secretly hoping it’s blue. Because heaven forbid anything but blue ever grace her walls. (I seriously think if the kids were sporting red the photos would be banned to a book on her coffee table. Maybe I should test my theory. Just for fun.)
2. On Friday I got to meet Mary Kathryn. She came over for lemonade (too hot for tea) and her 10-year-old entertained my kids THE WHOLE TIME. They still talk about it. I always love meeting bloggy friends in real life. (One of the reasons I’m utterly disappointed to be missing the Blissdom Conference early next year. But I just can’t justify the blow to the budget right now. Sniff.)
3. And speaking of unnecessary expenses, my camera is nearing its last breath. (Not to mention the lens is scratched.) I was never that thrilled with the indoor photo quality anyway. Feel free to sell me on your DSLR in the comments. (I’m interested in moving towards more professional-quality photos while my kids are still little and pudgy-cute. And what’s a blog without photos?)
4. Saturday was Drew’s last day of soccer clinics. From Andy’s reports it sounds like he goofed off more than anything. Well…hey, there’s always next year.
5. I’m pretty much done with the Fall Clothing Roundup ’09 for my kids (with the exception of one or two things I’m still on the lookout for). BUT, I have yet to clear out the tank tops and bathing suits. (Which, hello? We’re clearly not going swimming again this year.) So their dressers are miserably full and every time I finish the laundry I have to wrestle and/or kick the drawers shut. Trying to muster up energy for the Summer Clothing Clear-Out. I think my mom needs to visit again. Soon.
6. Last night my sisters watched the kids and Andy and I had a fabulous dinner out (at STJ for those of you who know what that means) and ate WAY too much food. The kids were even in bed when we got home. It was definitely one of the highlights so far this season.
7. We had a very last-minute playdate this morning with my friend Tiffany and her boys. (Her girl baby can’t exactly play yet.) We had morning drinks and then lunch outside and the kids got to play with friends and expend some energy. A win-win. (So thanks, T! When my kids got in the car one of them yelled “WASN’T THAT SO FUN?!”) The sun has even made a reappearance, which makes for a doubly-happy day. I am so. sick. of. cloudy. skies.
And now Adelaide is up and dumping raisins, so I’m gonna have to declare this list complete.

Loved having y’all! It was overdue! Next time I’ll try having something on hand other than kid food… :)
BTW, you look super cute very preggo!
You have such a gift for expressing life with humor and reality. I think you should write a book. It would be a best seller for sure. Daddy and I look forward to reading your blog….a highlight of our day!!
Mom
You don’t want my camera recommendation, but I’ll sure enjoy seeing what you pick out! And I think your 2 sisters are DOLLS for giving you and Andy some time out. That’s a gift that keeps giving :)
I feel like ‘life’ has the snowball effect, as our kids get older and older we get busier and busier. Glad you got the pics taken and for your sake, I’m glad soccer is over. :) We haven’t done sports like that yet? Don’t you just love aunts who let you get out of the house, or grandmas? Jason and I used to love having Emma (my only niece at the time) spend the night with us. It was a treat for us and a treat for JR and Shonda.
I invested in a SLR camera when my kids were smaller. Too bad it was before the digital age and it’s pretty much obsolete now! My mom has a Canon DSLR and loves it. I’d spend the money if I were you!
Hope you’re having a good day! Glad you got a date. I think we need one of those soon (like November!) ;)
I SO need to clear out the summer clothes.
YAY for dinner out with the Hubs!! We’re going out next weekend. Can’t wait. :-)
And also, the DSLR. TOTALLY worth the investment. TOTALLY.
So bummed you’re not going to Blissdom.
