Change o’ plans
We started to paint the bathroom yesterday, and stopped. I was scraping off some of the peeling paint and dry-wall by the tub and the next thing I know, I had a huge hole where the water (my kids splash a LOT) had basically rotted out that part of the dry-wall.
And then later my dad and brother poked at it some more. Now we have a hole in the wall down to the stud. So we’re going to be doing more demolition and replacing that part of the wall, possibly the whole tub/shower, the sub-floor under/by the tub and the linoleum. A little more than we signed up for in this painting project.

But it needs to be done. There are so many places water can get behind the walls and under the floor. (Which is, you know, NOT GOOD.)
Needless to say, we won’t be painting this week.
(But we WILL be eating a whole lot of turkey. Thank you and amen.)

Oh yeah that would definitely change plans. :(
That is so not good. It is good that you have help! Just wanted to let you know we are eating our yummy version of your Breadmachine Sweedish Coffee Buns this morning. Thanks for the recipe! Love you.
so there with you. Our 1960 house has white tile instead of the original robin’s egg blue thanks to lovely rot. Clint and a friend ripped out floor and shower tile to find that our huge wonderful cast iron tub was held up by the floor joists alone. All the rest of the flooring was completely rotted away. He could sit under the house while I was bathing kids and SEE each other! Of course I was pregnant with Shannon at the time. And no surprise, the next summer is when we disovered his blood pressure was through the roof. But I do now have a purple bathroom I like. (and thankfully by God’s grace still have Clint! :)
Well, maybe I should listen to Steve when he urges me to dry the floor carefully after each bath, instead of rolling my eyes at him.
Been there, done that! (Ok, really Jason did the repairs)
