Two Men & A Tub

By Moriah on November 30th, 2009

Our house was built in 1950. This project desperately needed to be done.

That would be our 300+ pound cast iron tub.

Micah took it to a scrap metal place and got $18 + change for it.  ($5 per 100 lbs.)  Lunch money.

Here is the current state of affairs:

That used to be my bathtub!  You can see the hole in the floor where my mom accidentally fell through the rot.  (She’s totally fine, don’t worry…she was just completely taken by surprise.)

New bathroom coming tomorrow!

(And if my hair looks a little greasy, now you know why.)

Please, tell me you have another bathroom in your house. We only have one and I remember what a nightmare it was when my hubby lay tile in there and we could use it for three days (and my oldest was potty training, too) Can’t wait to see your new tub all installed

Wow, if Steve were in town, I would tell him to get on over there and help. Yikes. Hope it comes together easily.

Wow – that is one THOROUGH job! Not too much fun, but you’d rather know about rot in your floor, than not know!

Oh my word. That is some serious home improvement project!

Looks like you had a lovely Thanksgiving! I’m so glad your family could all be together. And so glad they’re there to help you!!!!

This is SO what needs to happen to our (rental) bathroom. Not pretty, but you are not the only one with a rotten bathroom floor. And that is awful about your mom…we joke here about suddenly taking a bath in the crawl space one of these days…! haha. Can’t wait to see the new look!

ps, did you have mold in the wall? we are convinced we would…

That looks like a nightmare come true for a homeowner. Good thing you have help!
