Half therapy, half practicality

By Moriah on January 2nd, 2010

I realized something about myself yesterday.  I always have a million things going on, it’s just the nature of my life right now and that won’t change.  There is always going to be something that needs to be done.  But if I don’t have a fun little project or two to squeeze in on the side, I get a little depressed.  It doesn’t really matter the craft — making pretty things, taking photos, sewing ridiculously frivolous girl clothes — they’re all therapeutic for me.

So, all that to say, here’s my latest quickie project. Arianna is a spitter, she spits up after almost every feeding. None of my other kids were like that. (And no, I’m not worried about her weight because of it, she’s quite round.) We fly through bibs and burp cloths for her. (And shirts for me, ew.)

Dolly lent me a few of her tiny-baby bibs, one or two of which were made by her sister-in-law. I had to get fabric for something else yesterday so I picked up a few scraps to make a few more bibs. I just laid Dolly’s out on the fabric and cut around it, adding in a 1/4″ for seams. Easy, easy, easy. Cute, cute, cute.

And we’re already using them. (Ew.)

The back is terry cloth so they’re nice and thick. My favorite is the gray/black/multi one in the middle.

Those are bright and happy, M! And when you find one of them in a drawer in, oh, about 15 years, it will be doubly special b/c you made it.

Love em! What a great upside to having a spitty baby! Bubbalu was like that so I TOTALLY get it. I had BAGS and BAGS of bibs left over after he stopped spitting.

And I too carve time out to do a sometimes frivolous, but adorable, craft to ward off depression :)

Cute, Cute! Mollee (and I) smelled like sour milk spit up for the first year of her life – unfortunately, she wasn’t round. :)
Maybe we can get together next week, I think mom’s group is Tuesday – FYI!

I’ve got a very spitty baby boy. I’m hitting the fabric store tomorrow. Those are too cute and easy to do! Did you use a serger or just hem them? Love the idea!

I’m the same way. Right now mine is playing in makeup lol. Weird I know.

I love the bibs! I’ve made a few like this myself. They make great baby shower gifts with a matching burp cloth.

So cute! Where’d you find such fun fabric?

So maybe you can make a bunch and sell them to pay for your vacuum repair (or replacement!)

They’ve VERY cute!!! Great job. I can’t believe you make all this stuff without a pattern.
