The Have Nots (Andy Edition)
(Dear Andy, thank you for providing me with blog posts.)
First, a little backstory. Or two.
Andy’s gone through a couple (ahem) cell phones. Dropped one in a can of paint; I think another got the washer treatment… stuff like that. So we typically buy $20 cheap phones from ebay instead of paying for phone insurance each month on top of a $50 deductible for a replacement. All that to say, he’s currently without a phone because we are waiting on another one to arrive. It’s a pain.
So, last night, he left to make a coffee/ice cream/Redbox run since we’re out of coffee beans. A friend had given us some pumpkin spice coffee, which is great for me, but since Andy is a coffee purist he said he couldn’t have two mornings in a row with flavored coffee. (I know. High maintenance.) And since he’s without a phone, he took mine.
I was sitting on the couch, minding my own business and nursing the baby, when there was a knock at the front door. (I should also mention that it was 10:45 at night.) I wondered why on earth he knocked instead of just using his key but it turned out to be my neighbor instead: Andy had locked his keys in his car and was waiting for me at the Redbox. He had to call her to reach me because we have no house line and again, HE HAD MY PHONE.
She took the baby, and I jumped in my van to go rescue my stranded hubby. I thought about how nice that ice cream was going to smell come this morning, locked overnight in a car and all, and mentioned that when I picked him up.
Maybe, except it turns out he never even made it to Walmart! Apparently there had been an accident and some rerouting so he turned around and decided to get the movie first. Stopped at the Redbox and was chatting on my phone with one of his buddies and the next thing he knows, he has a movie but no car. (Well I mean, he has a car, but no way to drive it.) Oops.
No coffee.
No ice cream.
No keys.
No car.
And [we died laughing at this point], still no phone!

Oh my word, y’all sound like us! I could probably deal calmly with all of those except the no coffee. That’s a deal breaker :)
good thing you have a good sense of humor! And a blog to tell us on.
Oh, man!!! :)
Steph
You guys crack me up!!!
That’s funny! And I must say, you’re a better sport about it than I’d probably be. :)
Hahaha. My sister sounds a lot like Andy. She’s had a cell # for about a year and has had something like 8 phones. SO many funny stories too, a fat kid stepped on it, fell in a storm drain, etc. What a nice neighbor you have too!
Wow! This is SO close to home!!! I have lost more phones! It is insane. At least you sound patient and loving…just like Stephen is with me :)
I think it’s time to rename your blog:
Never a Dull Moment
or perhaps
I can’t DREAM this stuff up.
Oh my gosh.
We have four cell phones (me, J, W, S) and sometimes we leave the house without a single one of us taking ours. That’s crazy too.
Hilarious. Is it sad that I get a little happy when things like that happen at our house since I know it’ll make good blog fodder? Ha! Chris is a coffee purist as well and absolutely turns his nose up to anything flavored. Sigh.
That is hilarious! As a woman whose phone has also had the water treatment, I feel your pain!
That just sounds like a typical day for our family too. Glad we have some things in common! :)
