That time again

December Photo Project

Coming tomorrow!

Where’d my baby go?

By Moriah on November 29th, 2010

Ironic, that about 8 hours after posting about Thanksgiving, I came down with the worst stomach virus I’ve had in a good, long while. Flat on my back (or hovering in the bathroom) for over a day = misery. I’ll spare you all the details.

Something else way more exciting happened over the weekend:

front tooth

The tooth fairy even managed to pay a little visit (with several reminders of “don’t forget my dollar, Mom!”) and those four quarters are now burning a hole in a certain little boy’s pocket, let me just tell you.

And into the holidays we go

(I’m still full, are you still full???)

Whew! This is the first time I’ve been able to sit down and everything’s quiet and I am actually awake enough to post a couple of photos. We had a very sweet Thanksgiving, with food and gratefulness at every turn.

coffee buns

We have these every holiday. Start the day off right!

Last year I didn’t do much in way of decorating a table (but the food was divine; brine that turkey!) so that was my to-improve-on goal this year.

thankful table

Walmart had beautiful Better Homes & Gardens tablecloths on clearance and I had a gift card. Everything else I already had.

My mom always used her china and crystal for Thanksgiving and Christmas but with a tableful of toddlers, I decided to keep it simple. Maybe when they’re teens.

I forgot to get a photo with me in it but did get one of everybody else (notice Arianna already chowing down, love that baby).

Now that’s all put away and we’re getting out Christmas!

The Wave

I’m biased; I own it. But I’ve been having some fun photographing pretty eyes and playing around with Picnik. (Premium; gifted!)

Original black & white:

These I didn’t do anything really to except minor tweaks…and she wasn’t crying, I have no idea where that tear came from!

It seems like more than half the photos I have of Arianna are of her eating. BECAUSE SHE’S STRAPPED DOWN.

She was watching me make breakfast in the kitchen one day, politely sitting in her baby chair.

Little Miss Bright Eyes.

And one from yesterday. She’s talking on the phone, see? (And playing the piano… multitasking!)

Some quickie updates

By Moriah on November 20th, 2010

First, poor Madeline was up a lot of the night sick.  I still have to change my sheets.  It was a looooong night but could have been so much worse.  Andy sat up with her for at least 3 hours, dozing when he could.  Finally we all got some good sleep this morning, for which I am SO thankful.  We need sleep!

Drew’s been making some huge progress with school, it’s always so surprising to me how very fast they learn.  This morning there was a sheet of paper left on the table, a list written in big black marker:

Andy and I had a good chuckle over that one.  I’m gonna stick it in the to-keep box.

Arianna (aka ereon) has been taking steps, up to about 6 or 7 in a row.  The most hilarious thing she’s doing now is waving – which is totally awkward with her big fat paw stretched out to the side and then she shakes it from side to side.  Gets a smile every time.  She loves to clap, too.

Adelaide’s busily anticipating her 4th birthday, “when she can go to school.”  I said to her the other day she’d only get to go if we have the money for her to go.  So then yesterday she brought me a huge pile of change she pilfered from my purse and said “here’s some money, Mom, so I can go to school.”  So matter-of-fact.  I had to laugh and not tell her that was nowhere near enough.

God continues to shower us with little blessings, usually in the most unexpected places.  Public thank-you’s to the H’s, RT & friends, Dolly, Alli.  May you be blessed today.

Arianna and the Apple

By Moriah on November 19th, 2010

Meant to post this last week and forgot…

ari apple

She was mostly teething on it, but left a string of discarded bits in her wake. I wanted to do a full collage since there are several more funny ones but unfortunately the cool groupings on Picnik are premium features and cheap as it is, still costs money. So you get just four. :)

Turned out to be a surprisingly great day

By Moriah on November 17th, 2010

I must have some sort of weather-related depression because the days that it’s rainy, gray, and cold I just feel down and have the hardest time finding motivation.  Same for Andy.  So yesterday when it was dreary again we set out to beat it and spent an hour scrubbing our house and getting things in order, and kept all the lights on.  We’ve been praying and reading the Bible together in the mornings so that helps a lot, too.  And I determined to wear my happy pants and fix my hair.

One of the best ways to get yourself out of the dumps is to take action.  Even if it’s just one step.

We met our friends for dinner at Chick-Fil-A (kids eat free Tuesdays, remember?) and I got doused in sweet tea.  After the kids were asleep Andy went over to a friend’s house and I pulled out my dusty sewing machine and made some serious headway in the mending pile.

Now, funny thing, we have to start all over again with TODAY.
