Further Adventures in Arianna

What we deal with on a daily basis…

Hot chocolate sampling. She’s figured out the upturned basket/box/whathaveyou gets her to higher places! Instantly!

That would be an old abandoned-in-the-very-back-of-the-fridge container of cottage cheese, as you can see, gone very bad. She {shudder} got herself a spoon and had a little taste. Eeeeew!!!

Those were both just from yesterday morning. But even so, yes, it was a much better Monday overall. ;)

A New Week!

By Moriah on January 29th, 2012

I’m not gonna lie, last week was really hard for me. I laid in my bed on Monday and just cried my eyes out. Zero energy, exhausted. Too many kids, too many needs, and too much to do; not enough hands or time or motivation. It had been cloudy and rainy for days and then the x-neighbor lady left my babies at the park and a stranger walked Madeline home. Three completely drenched and muddy children to yell at deal with. As if I didn’t already have enough laundry.

But, the Lord in his mercy gives us new days, new weeks.  Here’s to a better, happier one!

I win.

of a Thursday

By Moriah on January 13th, 2012

The other day the kids were all showing me how “good” they could hold Ethan. It was hilarious, them talking about how they can hold the baby for sooo long.

*No babies were harmed in the making of this post.

My bookend boys. Love.

I think I’m going to like our new Thursday routine, which, incidentally I made up just today.  I used to have it MADE with the carpool situation.  Nicky pulled James out of school this semester and so now we have to drive more.  Anyway, there’s a perfect amount of time between when I drop off the carpool kids and when I pick up Adelaide from preschool to do a grocery run and bonus! only four kids in tow.

I let them pick out their lunch.  (A lunchable once a week won’t kill them, right?)  I also brought the leappads in the car and there was not ONE backseat fight the entire length of carpool.  It was awesome.  Score one for mom.

And then also today we made blueberry muffins for a close family with a newly-birthed baby,

snuck candy,

ate potato soup a la Gretchen (turkey bacon! not bad!),

with salad,

and apparently placed Arianna a little too close to the butter.

one way to waste money

Leave the stool in a place where the 2 year old can reach the stamps.

Over the river and thru the woods to Grandmommy’s house we go. And back.

We’ve been back for a couple of days, I’m totally unpacked (yay!), Drew’s birthday was yesterday (later post) and so I’m ready to start the new year. (You know, after I get my Christmas cards sent out.) These are random shots from our visit, before and after Christmas, excluding the ones from Drew’s party.

This is soo Adelaide:

The kids did lots of coloring,

and painting…

(with only one disaster involving Arianna, lesson learned),

hanging out with Papa,

playing games…

taking care of new babies,

going to the library (not shown), playing the leappads,

and I got to have lunch with Mer.  :)

That night Andy and I had a date at PF Chang’s (yum) and then went to Mission Impossible 4. Very fun. Saturday was spent celebrating Drew and packing and then we got a babysitter for 4 of the kids and went out to dinner with my parents for New Year’s Eve.

Too bad Ethan won’t remember all the fun things he gets to do.
