how to go on vacation

By Moriah on May 26th, 2012

1. Get strep throat.

2. Take kids to bouncy house place, where your 6-year-old girl is pushed off the side of the maze and breaks her arm.

3. Spend the second to the last day of school in the ER.

4. Finish up the school year, make it to last-day presentations and take your kids to the school-wide park day, with daughter’s arm freshly splinted. (Too swollen for a cast; that’s next week.)

5. Relax, school’s over. Think about packing for the trip and put off the laundry and just take a nap.

6. Get a flat tire.

(And make sure it happens on a Saturday night where you’re sure you won’t be able to get it fixed anytime soon or get said vehicle packed for vacation.)

But hey! SCHOOL’S OUT!

return from the sickbed

By Moriah on May 22nd, 2012

Welp, I’m still alive. It was gettin’ dicey there for a bit. Andy, bless his heart, has a full plate without a sick wife and let’s face it, men typically aren’t good nurses. ;) He did take the kids out several times, though, good for me and them.

Yesterday was the first day I felt more like myself and could actually swallow without bracing myself. I haven’t been that sick in like five years. Miserable.

No pics yet, sorry. I need to put the new software on my computer and my desk is a mess. Plus I was on my deathbed and all.

But here! Some pics from my old camera!  How’d I end up with such a blondie??

Can you tell he’s our happy guy?

snap happy

My lens came yesterday. I would be soo happy except I have strep and my throat is on FIRE. It’s really not fair for the mom to get sick!

Hopefully new awesome photos coming soon. ;)

on not having it together

By Moriah on May 15th, 2012

I still have not recovered from last Thursday, when Adelaide’s preschool teacher said “oh Adelaide, you’re all ready for your closing chapel today!” and I was in my pajamas and realized I was supposed to be at the program in T minus thirty minutes.  I FLEW home, threw clothes on me, Ari, Ethan, nursed him and FLEW back to the school.  When I got there her class was singing, still at the front.

The main part is after, where we go to their classrooms and see all their work for the year, and celebrate with cookies and lemonade. I’m glad I [somehow] managed to be there.

But it threw off my week. Friday was crazy (10th anniversary), Saturday was crazy (Andy’s birthday), and Sunday was crazy (Mother’s Day) and I needed Thursday morning to get stuff done at home. Still hasn’t happened, oh well.

Yesterday I tried to take the kids somewhere inside (rain) and fun but they couldn’t stop fighting, so we came home instead. Half of them fell asleep. Clearly we are exhausted and summer cannot come fast enough.

I sold my camera and purchased an upgrade. It came yesterday (body) but the lens still hasn’t come yet. So I’m down on photos currently, but I do have a few saved to spread out until I can take some more. I made Adelaide go over to my neighbor’s to get her picture taken this morning, on her last day of preschool. And I made Gretchen take one on our anniversary, when we were at dinner with them Friday.

Also, I’ve been meeting a friend at the Y three mornings a week to exercise. I LOVE that they have childcare – worth every penny. My little kids love it, too, and they have friends there. Arianna asks me “go to gym?” all the time now, so cute. I feel a little tired-er but overall, much better than I’ve felt in a very long time.
