alright, sparky, here’s the deal

Okay… that was pathetic. (But thanks, G!) Here’s the thing… LinkyTools used to be free, but it’s not now. And while it’s super cheap, I’m not going to pay for the service for FMF if no one is going to participate because that just feels silly. So I need to know if you are interested/plan on participating at any point during the summer. Otherwise it’s just not worth it to me to keep the carnival going. Let me know!

Fun Mom Friday – Birthday play-all-day Edition

Last year we had a big party for Madeline’s 5th birthday. This year the kids had music camp in the morning, she chose Chick-fil-A for lunch, and then to go to the “bouncy place.” Good choice!

We grilled country-style ribs for dinner and then Andy took the big 3 kids to a friends’ for cupcakes. Apparently they had a rock-star concert that was HILARIOUS. Too bad I didn’t get any photos of that one. But I was zonked and Arianna needed to go to bed.

We did a whirlwind gift-opening session since it was past 10:30 when they got back and the kids had to be up early for camp.

It was a great, FUN-filled birthday! Thanks to the grandmas for sponsoring all the fun!

ode to summer

Wednesday was a day I never want to re-live. It was just pure awful and I was beyond cranky. I am so frustrated at my lack of energy and what then happens to the state of my house. However, my friend Beth was in town for work and Jenny and I were able to meet her for dinner. (Well, I didn’t actually eat there, still saving those pennies.) It was JUST what I needed. Andy took the kids to church and they went to a craft class (Ari = nursery) while he went to choir practice. A win for all involved.

But yesterday was different. It was the first summer swim day and we spent time with friends in the water. Arianna LOVED jumping off the side to me – the girl has no fear!

And, we got a little loved on by the sun. (Yay!)

My sisters have gone home for the summer but they left us their gas grill. Hello, culinary heaven.

(BBQ chicken, roasted red potatoes, freshly shucked corn… mmmmm……)

Oh! I’ve had a couple people ask and YES! I am planning on hosting Fun Mom Friday again this summer. We’ll start next week.

Fun Mom Friday, The Last (for now)

Wow our house is really clean. I’m going to pretend-sell my house every week from now on! The crazy part was we replaced the rug in our living room about 30 minutes before it showed – which meant I frantically scrubbed the floor underneath, my mom and I had to lift two heavy sofas and move things around to get the new one placed just so… I’m sure we were very entertaining to watch.

And then I ran out to get Andy his work shoes and my van was dead. That is so not funny. (It’s acting fine today, oddly enough.)

I think I’m going to put Fun Mom Friday on hold for at least a couple of weeks while school is starting for us. I’m sure we’ll be doing fun things but I may not have time to keep up with good photos of it every week. I was thinking it might be a summertime thing. We’ll see.

But, for those of you who already planned out your post this week, I’m going to put up a linky anyway because I really don’t want to leave anyone hanging. I haven’t even pulled out my camera this week so I really have nothing fun to share. And I put it away yesterday while I was cleaning.

Fun Mom Friday!

My kids have had a very fun week, but no thanks to me since I’ve been sick or working on this sale. It’s been fun because Grandmommy is here! They’ve gone shopping, out for ice cream, to the playground, gone on long bike rides and walks, played with the hose, got a new bike “pumper” and other small treats, and today she’s planning on making cookies with them. It’s like vacation!

Fun Mom Friday!

(I’m going to interrupt here and just tell you that Madeline tried to do some crazy stunt on the trampoline last night and whip-lashed her neck. She’s pitiful. It’s been a long night for both of us. She’s somewhat better today though.)

Our BIG FUN was going to Birmingham to see some sweet friends last weekend. Our kids have been playing together since they were babies. (Once, Andy and I left Drew on their doorstep when he was about 5 months old, rang the bell and ran. It was so funny peeking around the corner. Baby delivery!)

We ate pizza, played games, had coffee, shopped at Costco (and ate samples), watched movies, had watermelon, played Playdoh; you know, all that fun stuff.

Fun Mom Friday

Wednesday we met some friends at the mall {free} soft play area – kids climbed and ran and played and the moms talked and it was AIR CONDITIONED. Big fun! (Although Sarah called yesterday and said we forgot the coffee! Oops!)

And, I was such a dummy – forgot to take any photos while the kids were playing and only remembered as we were packing up to go.

(Arianna looks beyond thrilled at being plunked down in the stroller, I know.)

One of the fun things we did this week was I let the kids make their own dinner. They love to “cook” and I don’t love extra messes, so we don’t do it all that often.

Fun Mom Friday

One of the fun things we did this week was actually Fun Dad Friday. Ha. Andy took the kids on a little daddy date and they all got goggles (we can’t find the ones I purchased on clearance last summer) and then went out for ice cream cones.

It has been SO hot this week so we’ve either stayed inside or been at the pool.

I also bought them a watermelon, since it is their very favorite food in all the land.

Fun Mom Friday

Welcome to the very! first!

We did a couple of fun things this week (like met friends for supper on Tuesday at Chick-Fil-A and also went to the park a few times) – but I didn’t take any photos and those are sort of regular weekly occurrences for us. My BIG FUN idea for this week got bumped from time constraints so I’ll have to save that for next week.

Which means, I’m left with showing you these crazy kids doing their stunts off the diving board, taken yesterday:

Adelaide’s swimming is another hilarity. She usually holds her hands up behind her, out of the water (face in), and just kicks her legs. I have no idea.

Fun Mom Friday – Here we go!

I’m so excited to share this little project with you! Many thanks to Jackie for the beautiful badge!

Starting this Friday, I’m going to be hosting a new weekly blog carnival,

If you want to participate, you can link up a brand new blog post on Fridays or simply use one you’ve already posted during the week – either way, it should be focused on something fun you did with your kids, something fun you let them do, or somewhere fun you took them.  The theme is FUN.  (But it does NOT need to be elaborate.)  Also, we love photos!

The idea is to get out there and have some summertime fun with our kids, and maybe to pick up some great ideas from others that we may not have thought of on our own.  We could all use occasional help in the motivation/inspiration department, right?!
