a monday in photos
Woke up to this:

School was canceled so we snuggled down for a pajama day. Andy was supposed to go somewhere at noon except the van was dead and his car was parked in.

I had this scary vision of him pushing my van right over the hill. (He didn’t.)

He tried jumping it several times but never got the van to start. We thought it might be a bad battery but he got a new one and it still won’t start. My car loves to act up during the holidays.
Sooo, a perfect day for me to catch up on a little of this:

and have a little of this:

I googled “free Christmas coloring printables” and printed out a few sheets for the kids to color. Those are great because we don’t necessarily have Christmassy coloring books layin’ around every year. But then we got a package in the mail full of Christmas story and craft books. Thanks, Mom!!
We rounded out the day with baths and a little bit lot of sprinkles:

Here’s mine:

YUM.

(Forgot to hit publish on this yesterday and then Andy and I came down with a pretend-flu. Feeling better now!)

brrrrrrrrrr
It has been sooooo colddddd here. Like, colder than Colorado, according to my mom. I mean, highs in the mid-30s and today “feels like” 23. Yeah.
THIS IS THE SOUTH.

[her eyes!]

BUNDLE UP.

har har

This one needs a little backstory. Sometimes, Andy thinks he’s so very funny to bring me the smallest serving possible when I ask for something. This was last night’s “bowl” of chocolate ice cream. In a ramekin. (He usually has the real one waiting around the corner.)
(Also, he brought me a CRUMB when I asked for a corn chip to scoop up the last of my chili at dinner.)

Advent house

Otherwise known as the House Full of Chocolate.
{concert}

Andy and I went to a Christmas concert last night and since it was free, we had Drew and Madeline come with us. We enjoyed it but the kids were more like “this is soooo looooong!” and “is it almost over yet???” and “I’m booooooored!!!”
Culture, people, culture.
We went to pick the little girls up at my sisters’ apartment and they had all walked down to the gas station for candy. Adelaide walked out munching on a push-pop and chirped “hi guys! did you have fun?!” Andy and I had a good chuckle over that one… here Drew and Madeline were subjected to a long boring evening (to them) only to go pick up their little sister and she’s been playing, watching movies, and getting candy and then asks them if they had fun.
(She did share a little.)

The angel

When Andy and I were engaged, my mom and I shopped the day-after-Christmas sale and found this lovely ceramic nativity set at Dillard’s. It’s a Christmas staple around here!

December Photo Project, Day 1

Tried something new! I’ve never made potato soup before, and yesterday was the perfect rainy day for it. Got the recipe from my friend G for it (over text, no less! don’t you love this modern age?) and it was so, so yum. Topped with hot bacon and cheddar. Welcome December!

Where’d my baby go?
Ironic, that about 8 hours after posting about Thanksgiving, I came down with the worst stomach virus I’ve had in a good, long while. Flat on my back (or hovering in the bathroom) for over a day = misery. I’ll spare you all the details.
Something else way more exciting happened over the weekend:

The tooth fairy even managed to pay a little visit (with several reminders of “don’t forget my dollar, Mom!”) and those four quarters are now burning a hole in a certain little boy’s pocket, let me just tell you.

eyes
I’m biased; I own it. But I’ve been having some fun photographing pretty eyes and playing around with Picnik. (Premium; gifted!)

Original black & white:

These I didn’t do anything really to except minor tweaks…and she wasn’t crying, I have no idea where that tear came from!

It seems like more than half the photos I have of Arianna are of her eating. BECAUSE SHE’S STRAPPED DOWN.

She was watching me make breakfast in the kitchen one day, politely sitting in her baby chair.

Little Miss Bright Eyes.

And one from yesterday. She’s talking on the phone, see? (And playing the piano… multitasking!)

Arianna and the Apple
Meant to post this last week and forgot…

She was mostly teething on it, but left a string of discarded bits in her wake. I wanted to do a full collage since there are several more funny ones but unfortunately the cool groupings on Picnik are premium features and cheap as it is, still costs money. So you get just four. :)
